About the data

Records come from the Texas Secretary of State's published notary file. The state republishes that file quarterly; we re-import each publication monthly, so a record can be up to a full publication cycle behind the state's own counter. Every result carries the date the state last published it. Of 558,898 commissions on the most recent publication, 445,100 had not yet reached their expiration date. Status reflects the commission expiration date only and does not account for voluntary resignation or administrative action.
